Police at Kirakira in the Makira-Ulawa Province have arrested and charged three men in their 30’s for allegedly stealing chainsaws at the Na’ana Elite logging camp in East Makira recently.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The alleged incident occurred on 22 of May 2018 Ward 14 in the East Makira constituency.”
PPC Sitai explains: “The three chainsaws were allegedly stolen by the alleged suspects from a storage cargo container.”
Police in Auki, Malaita Province is clamping down on the production of the illegal substance kwaso with the recent raid on two separate locations near the provincial capital on 6 June 2018.
Police confiscated large amounts of distilled kwaso at two different locations including Ambu Village and in the Tiki area near the Aligegeo Provincial Secondary School.
A suspect was arrested at Ambu Village and placed in police custody whilst the other two suspects in the Tiki area escaped police.
Five serving officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been recognised in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours and Awards for their service to the Force.
H.E the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui announced the awards during the Queen’s Birthday Parade at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara on 8 June 2018.
More than thirty officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have been awarded with certificates for completing the Coast Watchers Exercise in Western Province on 2 June 2018.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) now has a new Police Response Team (PRT) facility in Gizo, Western Province.
The new facility, opened on 2 June 2018, was funded under the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP). The facility is located at the Gizo Police Station.
Speaking during the handing over and opening ceremony at Gizo, RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley says, “I am honoured to be here today to open this new RSIPF Police Response Team Facility in Western Province; a boost for RSIPF operational capability.”
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team have removed a United States 500-pound bomb from Toumoa Village in the Shortland Islands on 29 May 2018 during the recent Coast Watchers Exercise in the Western Province.
Officer-In-charge (OIC) of RSIPF EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The EOD team removed the bomb which was located three metres from a house at Toumoa Village and was threatening the safety of villagers. It was later blasted safely at sea. RSIPF EOD obtained all relevant approaches for the safe destruction of the bomb.”
The visiting Commissioner of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC), Gari Baki has expressed interest in some of the facilities of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) which included the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) facility at Hells Point in East Honiara today (5 June 2018).
During the visit to the EOD at Hells Point east of Honiara, Commissioner Baki and his delegation witnessed a live bomb demolition.
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the Rennell and Bellona Province plan to increase their community awareness in villages throughout the province as part of the Crime Prevention Strategy implementation.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) plan to mount a zero tolerance operation in Tigoa, in the Rennell and Bellona Province to help curb the anti-social behaviour currently experienced at the provincial capital.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander, Rennell and Bellona Province, Sergeant Chris Tongaka says, “Police here at Tigoa have observed that there has been an increase in nuisance at the provincial capital and nearby communities including breaching of the provincial traffic ordnance, regulations and the Traffic Act.”
Chiefs, church leaders, elders and women in the Green Valley area in East Honiara have welcomed a team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) who conducted a community awareness meeting on 3 June 2018.
The RSIPF team included an officer from the National Community Policing Department and the Naha Police Station
Senior Sergeant Martin Haga of the National Community Policing Department says, “The aim of this program is to provide awareness talks to community members at Green Valley on how they can help with crime prevention in their communities.”
