Communities in Temotu Province will benefit from a stabi craft handed over to police at the Lata Police Station on 25 April 2018.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent James Toaki received the key for the stabi craft from Mr Abel Gilbert from the Solomon Island Police Development Program (SIPDP) with sea safety equipment. Mr Gilbert also handed over a 40-horse power Yamaha engine that will be allocated to the Peu Police Post on Vanikoro Island.
The Media Awareness Training held for officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata, Temotu Province from 23 – 27 April has been described as a ‘bonus’ for the participants during and after their time with the Force.
Ten officers serving at the Lata Police Station including three female officers attended the training.
Police at Lata in Temotu Province have arrested a 60-year-old man from Naban Village on Santa Cruz Island on 12 April 2018 for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl from the same village on four separate occasions in 2017.
Provincial Criminal Investigation Officer (PCIO), Sergeant Ezekiel Menoia says, “Police here at the Lata Police Station have charged the man with three counts of alleged sexual intercourse with a child under 18 years old and one count of alleged indecent act on a child under 18 years with three other related charges.”
Police at the Tulagi Police Station recently supported the Central Provincial Government Children’s Division during a joint advocacy tour to communities and schools in Florida Islands, Ngella.
Members of the public in the Central Province have expressed appreciation to the police at the Tulagi Police Station for assisting in what was described ‘a tense land hearing’ held at Semege substation between17-19 April 2018.
It is alleged on Monday 16 April 2018, a heated argument broke out between disputing parties, where the plaintiff in the matter was nearly attacked by angry people. The hearing was called off because of this. The Deputy Premier of Central Province then formally requested police presence at the next hearing, which police attended.
Police at the Buala Police Station in the Isabel Province successfully reconciled and reunited a mother of six children with her husband after four months of separation during a reconciliation dialogue on 13 April 2018.
Provincial Police Commander Supervising, Inspector Oswald Iru says, “The mother after realizing the negligence of her children, agreed to return to her children and her husband during the reconciliation dialogue.”
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in Honiara are still searching for a missing man after recovering the body of a local woman who was found offshore near the South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) compound in Central Honiara this evening, 19 April 2018.
Communities on Kolombangara Island in Western Province will benefit from a newly built police post at Poitete which was officially handed over to police on 17 April 2018.
Kolombangara Forest Plantation Limited (KFPL) built the new police post.

Police in Kirakira, Makira-Ulawa Province are investigating an alleged rape of a 5-year-old child at Rurunga Village on Ugi Island on 12 April 2018.
Makira-Ulawa Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “So far no arrest has been made as police need more information about the alleged rape of the child.”
A man in his 30’s has been remanded to appear before the Eastern Magistrate Court in Kirakira on 26 April 2018, on one count of grievous harm.
It is alleged the man attacked his wife on 29 March 2018 after a heated argument as the man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The matter was reported to Kirakira police after which an investigation was carried out resulting in the arrest of the man on 13 April 2018.
