Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Community Policing Unit at the Henderson Police station have conducted a two-days Crime Prevention Training in Tangarare Zone 2 on West Guadalcanal recently.

Guadalcanal Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma, said the training is first of its kind to be conducted in the rural community of Guadalcanal Province with the strategy to promote community policing crime prevention model.

A total of 40 participants have attended the training.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF)’s Prosecution Department has once again received a critical support from the Australian government.

On 20th March 2025, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) delivered a support to the RSIPF’s Prosecution Department that includes desktop computers, monitors and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) through the Australian-Solomon Islands Partnership for Justice (ASIPJ) program.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Chinese Police Liaison Team (CPLT) recently conducted a crime prevention campaign at the G. S. FAISI Technical Vocational Education Training Centre in Honiara.

The event, themed "Reject Illegal Activities, Safeguard Campus Safety," drew over 200 participants, including teachers, students, and school staff. This is an effort to promote campus safety and youth development.

In a significant step to enhance police cooperation between China and the Solomon Islands and improve the law enforcement capabilities of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), the CPLT launched a five-day police skills training program for officers of the Central Police Station- Response Unit (CRU) recently at Rove Police Headquarters.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and New Zealand Police (NZP) recently visited schools in West Guadalcanal where they conducted safety and crime prevention awareness.

The RSIPF’s National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) leads the awareness program with the support of the NZP through the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPSP).

The awareness talks were based on the five drivers of crime namely; alcohol and drugs, family violence, issues affecting youths, resources and environment and emerging issues.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Kirakira police station have continued to roll out Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS) and awareness talks at Huro community, Central Makira/Ulawa Province.

The Crime Prevention Team officer in charge, sergeant Audrey Suhata, said the aim of the visit is to remind community leaders of the importance of taking ownership of their community and working together with the police.

Sgt Suhata said for by-laws to be effective, it would entirely depend on leaders to take responsibility in playing their part.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team conducted simultaneous operation across Solomon Islands.

EOD Supervising Director, Senior Sergeant Peter Ririvere, said two teams were sent out to Munda and Shortland Islands in Western Province and Taro in Choiseul Province.

EOD teams responded to reports from communities in Munda, Shortland Islands and Taro and were able to destroyed over 250 bombs.

Police at Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province have arrested a 27-year-old male who is allegedly involved in the cultivation of marijuana in a village near Taro Station.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province Superintendent Berry Pogesopa said, Upon receiving reports about the suspect and his activity, police carried out an investigation that leads to the arrest. During the arrest, the suspect was in possession of the drug. Police also uprooted his marijuana plants.

Police officers in Auki, Malaita Province, have recently remanded a 26-year-old male person for allegedly raping a 27-year-old female at West Are’’are.

The victim was feeding her family’s pigs when the alleged suspect raped her.

The incident occurred on 10th January 2025 and was reported to the police days later. The arrest was delayed when the suspect flees his village but subsequently, police arrested him.

Upon arrest, the suspect was remanded at Auki Correctional Centre awaiting his court appearance at the Auki Magistrate Court.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Lata in Temotu Province have arrested a father for committing incest with his daughter.

The arrest comes after the 14-year-old daughter reported the matter to her mother who refer it to the police.

According to reports from Lata police, the father committed incest to the daughter in four occasions at different times between 2022 to November 2024. The first incident occurred in 2022 when the victim was only 11-years-old.
