Solomon Islands now have its first finger print experts within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

Minnie Arosi is one of the first two females to qualify as an expert after successfully completing the training. And since she joined the Forensic Unit within the RSIPF in 2006, Minnie does not regret any of it. This year marks 13 years for her as a police officer.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force yesterday discussed with Borderline Community Chiefs on issues occurred in their communities.

A total of 20 Chiefs and Community leaders from different small communities within Borderline area attended a one day discussion to further strengthening its dialogue with the Police.

During the discussion they formed in to three groups to identify the issues and present to the participants.

The issues discussed ranged from illegal selling and brewing of kwaso (home brew) and other anti-social behaviours etc.

The Police Academy of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force present certificates of appreciation to participants who attend Middle Management course and drivers training yesterday.

Sixteen participants attended the Middle Management Course and four participants for the drivers training.

According to Course coordinator Staff Sargent Agnes Ape said, “Upon successful completion, the participant will have revised understanding of the Sergeant and Staff Sergeant’s role and knowledge of the relevant policies and procedures relating to their duties”.

The RSIPF Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) today begun a two day conference in Rove Police Club.

Eighty (80) participants from within RSIPF ranks and files across Solomon Islands provinces are attending the conference which will coincide with the Women’s international Day on the 8th March 2017.

The theme for the two day conference ‘Enhancing Police Women’s Ability in Society’

Police Commissioner Matthew Varley thanks the surrounding communities to the Vasara Camp on Rendova Island in the Western Province, for their goodwill and support towards the police who were deployed to the area to stop the criminal activities resulting from a logging dispute.

Police Commissioner Matthew Varley successfully concluded his second provincial trip to Tulagi, in the Central Islands Province.

Upon arrival at Tulagi, Commissioner Varley inspected an officers parade and handed out certificates of appreciation to the officers stationed in Tulagi.

Provincial Police Commander Central Islands Province, Patricia Leta welcomed Commissioner Varley saying, “It is a honour and privilege for the Commissioner to visit my station and officers.”

The Office of the Commissioner of Police confirms that over the last week police conducted a major operation on Rendova Island, in response to a long standing logging dispute.

The police received reports of criminal offences committed and worked tirelessly to negotiate a peaceful outcome.

When negotiations failed, police arrested a large number of persons for numerous offences relating to attacks against the Vasara Logging Camp.

The persons arrested will be placed before the court as soon as practicable.

Police Commissioner Matthew Varley thanks the Solomon Islands Government for showing its confidence and support by endorsing the rearmament of certain specialists units of the RSIPF.

He says this is an important milestone for the RSIPF as it steps up to take total control of the country’s policing as RAMSI prepares to exit the country in June 2017.

Commissioner Varley acknowledged that RSIPF would not be where it is today without the support of the People of Solomon Islands, the Government and RAMSI.

Naha Police, Criminal Investigation team says the investigation into the break-in at Lio Ridge is progressing well.

The Naha Criminal Investigation Team assures the victim that they have received the case file and it is being treated as priority for further Investigations.

They are currently working on more information gathering to have evidence that could possibly lead to identify the suspects involved.

A man believed to be the main producer of Kwaso in the Noro area, Noro Town, Western Province stood up and admitted that he will voluntarily gave up all his cooking apparatus to the police during a Police awareness program.

The National Community Policing and Noro Police conducting awareness talk at Ela Motors vicinity on the 19th February 2017 as part of the community engagement on the crime prevention strategy.
