The Office of the Commissioner of police have received the pathology results from the National Referral Hospital Pathologist yesterday in relation to what many suspected were human remains found along the Mataniko River at Vara Creek in Central Honiara.
The report from the Pathologist confirms that the remains are from an animal not human remains as suggested in the media recently.
The report will form part of the police investigation mentioned in the media recently.

They were the launch of the RSIPF Environmental Crime Manual and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Commissioner of Police and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM).

A photograph of two young male persons holding weapons has been passed to RSIPF. This photograph caused serious concern to police regarding community safety. The information was referred to an active Task Force for investigation.
These weapons have been seized from the school by RSIPF and the school leadership and students advised to cease the practice of producing and maintaining such replica weapons. The school cooperated with police in this process and has assured RSIPF of continued cooperation.
The RSIPF is reminding the general public, particularly people living in the Provinces to reconsider any sea travel during bad weather.
Travel across the ocean even on a short trip can be dangerous or risky. If you are considering ocean travel during bad weather you should monitor weather warnings provided through the SIBC news and the Metrological office.
This is an appeal to all boat users and people who use sea transport as their means of movement. Whilst this is the only mean of travel in some Provinces, people should always remember that we cannot control the weather.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have marked another milestone, with the deployment of three RSIPF officers to the United Nations (UN) / African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). The officers will depart Honiara on Saturday 20 August 2016.
During a Commissioning Parade held at the Rove Police Headquarters today, Acting Commissioner Juanita Matanga commented ‘Today marks another milestone and an important occasion for Solomon Islands and RSIPF, the commissioning of RSIPF officers deployed to UN Mission duty overseas.’

As the primary law enforcement agency of Solomon Islands the RSIPF will work in close partnership with MoFT to achieve its objectives of enforcing the law, protecting property and maintaining civil order in a manner that is accountable, lawful, fair, transparent and responsive.
In 2013 the UN General Assembly designated July 30th as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness about the severity of human rights violations that trafficking victims endure, and to recognize that human trafficking is a crime that affects countries around the world.But this global day of recognition reflects a very local problem.
