The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will take stern action against anyone who intends to disturb the counting process at different counting venues in the country.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said we have done and exercised our democratic rights in casting our votes for our preferred candidates during the polling day was very peaceful. I am looking forward for peaceful days ahead as we continue with the counting process.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have led joint security patrols through the streets of Honiara on Election Day.

RSIPF Police Response Department members led the patrol on Wednesday morning from Rove Headquarters, through to White River and Henderson.

Officers from the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) assisted with visibility patrol. This included policing partners such as the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, and Fiji Police Force.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have commended the public for a peaceful polling day on 17 April 2024.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said this is what your police-RSIPF have been expecting from our people, a peaceful joint election.

Commissioner Mangau said it is good to see people move freely to cast their votes for their preferred leader to represent them in Honiara City Council, Provincial Government and the National Parliament.

The AFP has supported the RSIPF to deliver a significant public order management exercise in Solomon Islands this week in anticipation for the upcoming Joint Elections on 17 April 2024.

Around 170 members from Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Australian Federal Police and Australian Defence Force attended the exercise held at Hells Point, Honiara.

All participants involved in the exercise are trained in public order management.

Additional AFP members have arrived in Solomon Islands to support the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to deliver a safe and secure Joint Elections.

The deployment brings the AFP’s commitment on the ground to more than 130 personnel.

The RSIPF is leading the security operation for the Joint Elections, which will be held on Wednesday, 17 April, 2024. It is an historic event for Solomon Islands, with provincial and Honiara City Council elections to run simultaneously for the first time.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have conducted an awareness talk at Honiara Central market as part community engagement in preparation for the joint elections next week.

The objective of the program was to conduct awareness to the community and public to know their rights and responsibilities and also to work together with the police for safe, secure and peaceful Solomon Islands during the joint elections.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) took delivery of a leaf hut in Auki, Malaita Province on Friday, thanks to the support of the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

This is the fifth leaf hut delivered to the RSIPF by the APF through the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

This initiative, which commenced last year in Honiara, is part of a collaborative effort aimed at strengthening community-police relations and expanding access to justice across the Solomon Islands.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) strongly appeals to all liquor license holders throughout the country to observe the liquor ban declared from 16 – 26 April 2024 to coincide with the Joint Election 2024 next week.

The Liquor Ban Order has been issued by the Caretaker Minister of Home Affairs Christopher Laore under section 82(1) of the Liquor Act (Cap. 144). The Order has already been gazetted.

Emergency Response Group (ERG) of the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) have taken their oath of office as authorised officers to support the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) for the joint elections 2024.

The 65 ERG officers were taken their oath of office before the RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau at Rove police headquarters last week.

A joint Public Order Management (POM) training exercise was conducted as part of the police preparedness for the upcoming joint elections and the formation of a new government.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is prepared to deliver safe and secure joint elections and will be out in force throughout the election period.
