Regional law enforcement officers were among the twelve officers who graduated at Hells Point in Honiara on International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) level 1 today (28 March 2024).

Among the twelve graduated, four officers from Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF), a Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC), two Nauru police officers and five Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) in Western Province have arrested a 36-year-old male person for attempted murder at Pusisama village in Vella la Vella Island, on 22 April 2024.

The arrest was made after the 36-year-old suspect allegedly struck a victim in his 20s with a 40 inch knife made out of chainsaw steel blade.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Mathias Lenialu says, “The victim sustained two huge wounds behind his neck and his arm. The victim’s condition is stable.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro police station have arrested a 23 year old male person for the allegation of rape of a 12-year-old girl in North West Choiseul.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Inspector Elliot Ngilli says, “The 12 year-old-girl went by herself at the beach on 23 March 2024 and did not return as expected so her family searched for her but no sign of her.”

Command Control and Coordination (CCC) training boosted officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province (WP) as part of the preparation for the joint elections on 17 April 2024.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) WP, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “As the National General Election is fast approaching. RSIPF Senior Executive recommend all officer commanding stations and senior officers of the RSIPF who will be taking the active leadership roles in the upcoming joint election to undergo this very important training.”

Seven officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tigoa police station have successfully completed a four days training delivered by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at Renbel Province recently.

During the four days training, the seven officers went through Public Order Management (POM) training. They also have the opportunities in sharing experiences of community policing management and consider other best alternative approaches to solve arising issues within the communities.

International Women’s Day was held on 8 March 2024, and is a day for recognising the achievements of Women around the world.

Therefore, it was only fitting that Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Detective Inspector Eileen Rose Nala (Rose) was recognised and presented with the International Management of Serious Crime (IMOSC) Award of Excellence.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations Ms. Juanita Matanga and her senior management team attended a meeting held at the Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRML) to discuss ways to address illegal miners.

During the meeting, the GRML management raised concerns of ongoing challenges faced by the company with the illegal miners.

The mining pit of GRML has been disturbed by illegal miners and settlers which caused disturbance to the company's operations.

A total of seventeen officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police (RSIPF) in Central Island Province (CIP) have completed Public Order Management (POM) Training in Tulagi recently.

The training is part of capacity development of the RSIPF which is conducted by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) and RSIPF Operational Safety Training (OST) in preparation for the joint elections on 17 April 2024. The training commenced on 11 and completed on 15 March 2024.

Communities in east and west Makira are the latest to setup their Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS) and drafting of their by-laws.

The setup of Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS) and drafting of by-laws has happened when officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira visited 12 communities in east and west Makira.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Most of these communities are from ward 18, 19, 20 and 5 in east and west Makira constituencies.”

New Zealand Police attached to the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPSP) are completing a three day specialist Train the Trainer (ToT) course for the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF).

New Zealand Police working alongside National Crime Prevention Department staff and Learning and Development staff from the RSIPF have developed the training to pass on training delivery skills and to recruit new trainers to assist in the delivery of the 5 step mindstep training and the training relating to the RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy.
