The Australian Defence Force (ADF), National Response Department (NRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Emergency Response Group (ERG) of Corrections Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) have conducted a training on mission planning and orders in preparation for Exercise Coastwatchers next month.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “The planning and orders training was conducted between 5 and14 February 2024.

Commissioner Mangau says, “The course was jointly designed by ADF and RSIPF to increase capability for border surveillance missions.

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are currently rolling out Public Order Management (POM) and operational Safety training (OST) in Provinces and Honiara.

Training commenced last week and will continue until March in preparation for the upcoming National General Election 2024 (NGE24).

Supervising Director PRD Inspector David Quiro says, “As part of PRD primary focus in preparation for the upcoming NGE24 and ongoing police capability and capacity development.

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has killed a 2.5 metre crocodile at Foxwood area last week.

Supervising Director PRD Inspector David Quiro said officers responded to a formal request made by a concerned community member who feared for the safety of people who lived around a creek at Foxwood.
Inspector Quiro said, “The crocodile was captured using a bait on a hook before it was killed (shot).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect for alleged murder of a 30-year male person on 7 February 2024 in West Kwaio.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said, “The deceased and the suspect were drinking beer together after selling their timber in Auki and returned home on 6 February 2024.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) soon will roll out their community engagements plan all over the country as National General Election 2024 (NGE24) comes closer.

This was a result of the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and Directors of the RSIPF spent a weeklong conference here in Honiara deliberated and developed operational work plans and priorities for the NGE24.

A Joint Planning Team, involving members from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), conducted a desktop exercise for Provincial Police Commanders at the Provincial Police Commanders and Directors Conference that concluded in Honiara last week.

This initiative is part of preparations for the National General Elections in April.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) welcomed 68 new recruits at Rove police headquarters on 12 February 2023.

The total 68 recruits consist of 48 males and 22 females and they represent all the nine provinces of the Solomon Islands.

The new recruits will undergo18 weeks of intensive training which will involve a lot of activities that they will undertake in a limited period of time.

Provincial Training Officers (PTOs) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) attended a one week training in Honiara starting today (12 February 2024).

The RSIPF Learning and Development team (L&D) and the New Zealand (NZ) Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) commenced the second Provincial Trainers week-long training workshop at the Training Academy at Rove police headquarters.

The Course brings together the RSIPF PTOs and exposes them to advanced training that they can take back to their province and deliver to their RSIPF colleagues and peers.

The police maritime of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have rescued eight passengers between Florida Islands (Ngella) and Guadalcanal on 8 February 2024.

Director Police Maritime, Chief Superintendent Russell Tagini said the boat encountered the fuel shortage problem outside Lungga and started to drift back to Tulagi.

Chief Superintendent Tagini said we received a request from Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) and our search and rescue team responded in about 45 minutes and rescued the passengers.

Honiara City Police has partnered with the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) for an operation to address growing concerns about antisocial behaviour and emerging crimes in the Honiara Central Business District.

Provincial Police Commander for Honiara City, Chief Supt. Jimson Robo, expressed gratitude to the Honiara City Operation Team for commencing the operation and to SIAF members for their support.

Honiara City Police Operation Manager, Insp. Tex Tafoa, highlighted the operation's significance in light of upcoming elections.
