The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr. Mostyn Mangau thanked the members of the general public, spectators and athletes for good behaviour shown during the 17th Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau said, “It has been proven that with the support from other security partners we successfully provide safe and secured Pacific Games. Thank you to all good law abiding citizens of Solomon Islands.

Police have arrested a 20-year old male suspect in relation to the fatal accident involving a foreign national in Honiara on 3 December 2023.

The foreign national is part Cook Islands and Samoa who is in the country to meet his brother who led the Cook Islands team for the 17th Pacific Games. The deceased is based in Papua New Guinea.

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has confirmed that the deceased was in the country to see his brother and not part of the team.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) under Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) have worked alongside the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) to airlift medical supplies to different hospitals in Solomon Islands.

The ADF logistics with the support from Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) with the NH90 helicopter which successfully airlift the needed medical supplies between 29 November to 2 December 2023 to Buala, Tulagi, Auki and Kirakira.

Australian Defence Force (ADF) handed over band equipment to the Royal Solomon Island Police Force band today at Rove police headquarters on 30 November 2023.

Australia’s Defence Advisor to Solomon Islands, Lieutenant Colonel Justin Bywater has handed over the brass band musical equipment to RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau in the presence of RSIPF band and ADF officers.

Meet Hency Charles, the man not only helping to keep Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in shape as a fitness advisor but also the Captain of the Solomon Islands Swimming Team for the 17th Pacific Games.

On 23 November, the RSIPF Commissioner, Mostyn Mangau, and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Solomon Islands Commander, Heath Davies, and other RSIPF and AFP members showed up at the PG Aquatics Centre to cheer for Hency who competed in the 4 X 50 free style mix relay.

The performance event brought music cheer and an enjoyable friendly evening for the public in general, especially children and families of different communities of Honiara

The National Community Policing Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) along with the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) have conducted a one day workshop for community leaders in Central Honiara Constituency (CHC).

The workshop was conducted at Holy Cross Parish Hall on 24 November 2023 for about twenty leaders from different communities under CHC.

New Zealand Police, under Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) advisors, alongside the Provincial Training Officer (PTO), Sergeant Audrey Suhata delivered the Training.

The National Community Policing Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) have conducted an awareness talk at Lau valley community.

The awareness talk was conducted at the Lau valley school area on 22 November 2023 for about hundred plus people, mostly youths and young children.

Family violence, road safety, sea safety and how to create By-laws were amongst the topics presented to the Lau valley community during the awareness program.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo Police Station are conducting a general enquiry into the death of an adult male person who allegedly committed suicide.

The suicide incident as happened at Solomon Power Station area in Gizo, Western Province on 21 November 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, "An initial report received by police says day before the deceased committed suicide he went to his adopted mother’s house in Gizo Town.”
