Ten (10) Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers become the first to complete a Crime and Intelligence workshop aimed at strengthening the fight against serious and organised crimes.

The workshop, which ended at the Rove police headquarters on 24 September, is part of a larger series that will enhance the skills of RSIPF officers in conducting high quality investigations and preparation of evidence briefs.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is again calling on all road users including pedestrians and vehicle drivers to take extra precautionary measures when using the public roads.

The call came after observing several traffic fatalities. Pedestrians, before crossing the road, you are to observe the oncoming vehicles when crossing both lanes.

Drivers are strongly warned to reduce their speed limits not less than 50 metres when approaching zebra crossing.

The Western Tomoko Under-14 (boys and girls) team were given a rare opportunity to learn about online safety, emerging cyber threats and responsible social media use during its recent Honiara tour.

The team has been in Honiara participating in the 2024 Solomon Power Iumi Play Under-14 Championship that ended on 20 September.

The team’s male side reached the semi-final but failed to get the bronze. Central Islands U14 won the game to claim bronze. The female Western Tomoko U14 was however named the Fair Play Team of the championship.

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a male suspect from North Malaita in relation to the fatal accident at Panatina campus bus stop on 23 September 2024.

The arrest was made after the driver of the vehicle hit the deceased when she was crossing the road at the Panatina campus bus stop.

The two-ton vehicle travelled in an easterly direction at a high speed and hit the deceased when the deceased crossed the road. The vehicle hit and dragged the deceased to about 15 to 20 metres on the tarmac.
