The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) raided a bottle shop in the Kukum area as part of preventative measures in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly press conference said, “Hundred plus cartons of beer had been confiscated during the raid. Central Response Unit (CRU) at Central Police Station (CPS) raided the bottle shop with a tip of information from the public in the early hours on 1 October 2023.”

The National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating a hit and run incident opposite the Solomon Island National Institute of Sport early in the morning on 29 September 2023.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau during his weekly press conference said, “An unidentified vehicle driving in easterly direction hit a woman who unfortunately died on the spot. The hit and run occurred around 4 and 5am early in the morning which claimed the life of an adult woman who was part Western and Choiseul province.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Gizo have rescued a ray boat with 16 passengers on board between Gizo, Ranonga and Vella la Vella on 29 September 2023.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau weekly Press Conference said, “The 40 horsepower engine carried a total of sixteen passengers on board and were rescued near Liapari Island.”

Commissioner Mangau said, “Police officers on their return from RC Nicholson College in Vonunu during bad weather sighted the boat floating between Gizo, Ranonga and Vella la Vella Island.”

Naha Police Station and Naha communities in East Honiara welcomed the opening of their Leaf Hut (O.K Haus) recently.

On 22 September, members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Australian Federal Police (AFP), and chiefs and leaders from Naha were invited to witness the opening of the hut.

O.K Haus is situated inside the Naha Police Station compound and was constructed by a local builder with funding support from the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

A 64-year-old male person from Temotu Province was sentenced to two years and 7 months imprisonment for a tempted rape of an 11-year-old girl.

High Court Judge, Justice John Keniapisia sentence the accused on 2 October 2023 after Lata Police station have charged the defendant for attempt rape contrary to section 136(3) of the Penal Code, amended sexual Act 2016.

A 32-year-old male person from Temotu Province was sentenced to three years imprisonment for unlawful sexual intercourse.

High Court Judge, Justice John Keniapiaia sentenced the defendant on 2 October 2023 after Lata police officers charged the defendant for one count of unlawful sexual intercourse contrary to section 140(1) of the penal code amended sexual offence Act 2016.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) operation in Western province from 5 to 10 October 2023.

The operations will cover the following communities.
• Munda, Noro and other communities on New Georgia Island
• Nusa Roviana
• Vonavona
• Communities on Kohinggo island
• Rendova harbour
• Ringgi, Mboemboe, Teme, Jack Harbour and other communities on Kolombangara Island.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Auki Police Station have assisted villagers of Lilisiana community in search of two fishermen who went missing last week at Ndai (Ramos Island).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “We have received the report of the two missing fishermen on 30 September 2023.”

Superintendent Kili says, “Relatives of the two fishermen reported that they (fishermen) left for their trip on 26 September and were expected to return home on 28 September 2023 but did not as expected.”

Members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) along with some of their family members took part in the Solomon Airlines Peace Marathon on 23 September.

They joined hundreds of people who also participated in this fun community event.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) thanked the communities in Choiseul Province during the bomb disposal operation that happened recently.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “Good that our communities in the area of operation complies with instructions from the EOD team to deal with those unexploded ordnance (UXOs). Those bombs are a threat to our people and they have been killing our people for the past years.”
