The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point in the Alligator Creek area, east of Honiara, on 9 April 2025.
Acting Director of EODD, Senior Sergeant (SSgt) Peter Ririvere, says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 2pm (9 April 2025).
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) had an opportunity to attend and complete a training that covers how to interview children and vulnerable witnesses.
The weeklong training, which is supported by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) through the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), concluded in Honiara recently.
The training is important as it equipped RSIPF investigators with skills and knowledge to obtain information from children and vulnerable witnesses ensuring that their evidence is captured entirely and in their own words.

Police at Taro Police Station in Choiseul Province have arrested a 17-year-old suspected of stealing a 15hp Yamaha engine from a village in Northwest Choiseul.
The victim, a close relative of the suspect, locked the engine in a family shed. Days later, the victim returned to the shed to use the engine to assist a member of their community and found out that engine is missing along with other valuable items valued at about SBD$25,000.

Choiseul Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Berry Pogesopa, said in 2024, during a school break, there was a break-in at a school in East Choiseul.
During the break-in, a teacher’s house on the school premises was targeted. Valuable school properties, including an N70 battery, were stolen in this break-in.

According to police reports, a father (victim) locked his store and went out with his family to cut firewood. When they return, the father found out that someone has broken into their store and stole an unknown amount of cash and valuable items.
The victim went to his neighbours and inquire about the incident. He later reported the incident to the police.

Choiseul Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Berry Pogesopa, said the victim was at his house early in the morning when the two suspects, who are related to him, arrived and damaged his solar panel.
A Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officer, Senior Sergeant Raymond Togapada, made history as the first RSIPF officer to graduate from the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in the United States of America (USA).
Senior Sergeant Togapada was one of over 200 law enforcement officers who attended and completed the 10-week training program at the FBI National Academy on 13th March.
This group, where Senior Sergeant Togapada was part of, marks the completion of the FBI National Academy’s 293rd session.
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Gizo Police Station have arrested three male suspects for illegally selling (black market) liquor in Gizo, Western Province.
Western Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Superintendent Wilkin Miriki, said the recent arrests come after community members provided information about this illegal activity.
“Concerned community members came forward to Gizo police and gave information about individuals who were believed to be selling alcohol and homebrew at their homes,” Superintendent Miriki said.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Community Policing Team at Kirakira Police Station in Makira/Ulawa Province recently conducted awareness talks on crime prevention strategy in communities on Ugi Island, Ward 4.
Makira/Ulawa supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Senior Sergeant George Fafale, said Ward 4 leaders who attended the awareness were keen to establish community by-law in all 4 communities in the ward.
Leaders from communities in the ward invited the Community Policing Team to visit their communities and conduct awareness talks.
