Thirty officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province (GP) have undergone five days of police tactic training conducted by the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) as the first training to be kicked off for this year, 2025.

The training was collaborated on along with the RSIPF instructors of the Operation Safety Training Unit, aiming to equip officers with skills and tactics to guide and to strengthen the safety concept and improve their operational capabilities.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of their Forensic Drug Investigation capability, through the presentation of the Phase 2 Forensic Drug Investigation course in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The course was presented by Supervising Laboratory Coordinator Detective Constable Frank Korai and marked the first time that RSIPF has taken delivery lead.

The RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) bid farewell to its Staff Officer, Detective Sergeant Ngaire Schumacher, in a ceremony held on 22nd January 2025.

Detective Sergeant Schumacher, who deployed into the country in February 2022, was the Staff Officer to the AFP Commander Solomon Islands and the Advisor to the RSIPF on Strategic Leadership and Engagement.

Sixteen officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have been promoted to the ranks of Sergeant and Senior Sergeant on 7 February 2025.

Eight officers were promoted to the rank of Sergeant while eight were elevated to Senior Sergeant positions. Among the newly promoted officers were three female officers who were promoted to sergeant.

Thirteen of the promoted officers have secured leadership positions in the provinces, while the other three remain in Honiara.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) from different police stations are here in the capital, Honiara, to attend a two-week middle management course (MMC) training program at Rove Police Academy.

RSIPF Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Mr. James Teilo said the MMC training program has officially opened on 4 February and will finish on 14 February 2025.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Wagina and Taro police stations, with the support of RSIPF Forensics, have conducted an investigation in an alleged murder incident.

The incident occurred at Terapa Island close to Wagina in Choiseul Province on 19 January 2025 after a short argument.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Berry Pogesopa, said the deceased and the accused are from Canaan village near Noro town who went over to Wagina for seaweed farming.

Munda police are investigating the death incident of a 62-year-old Taiwanese man who was found unconscious in a fishing carrier boat recently.

The incident happened on 21 December 2024 in the Solomon Sea, and the ship went offshore at Noro port and reported the matter to authorities.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Wilken Miriki said the deceased was found unconscious on the bathroom floor by a crew member who saw him go in and noticed how long he stayed in the bathroom.

Tulagi police have arrested a male suspect in his 30s for burning down his own kitchen and his father’s kitchen at Beta village on 13 January 2025.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai, said it was alleged that the suspect was not happy after his plan to bring back his family from Nagotango Island was unsuccessful.

PPC Soakai said when he returned home by himself, anger began to build inside of him that led to the burning down of his own kitchen and his father’s kitchen.

Auki police have arrested a 32-year-old father on 12 January 2025 for assaulting his 8-year-old son at Auki, Malaita Province.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said it was alleged that when the suspect had an argument with his wife, he always assaulted his 8-year-old son.

Chief Superintendent Tafoa said those incidents have caused severe emotional challenges for the child, which demand the family to report the matter to Auki police.

Auki Police have arrested a 25-year-old male person for an unlawful wounding incident at Buma village, Malaita Province, recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, says, “The suspect, a 25-year-old man, was suspicious of his wife having an affair with another man and allegedly attacked her.”

PPC Tafoa says, “The victim was with their little baby inside their bedroom when the suspect went in with a kitchen knife and attacked her by stabbing her left shoulder and left leg.”
