The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 22 March 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 1pm (22 March 2023).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station are investigating a collision involving a Hilux and a dump truck at Renbel Province on 18 March 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Renbel Province, Inspector Eddie Peseika says, “According to witnesses the Hilux was driving at high speed when it collided with the stationed dump truck.”

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have welcomed His Excellency Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan during a brief visit to the Hells Points facilities on 19 March 2023.

During the brief visit, His Excellency was greeted by the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Ms Karen Galokale and the RSIPF Commissioner Police Mr Mostyn Mangau.

Security preparations at the Honiara International Airport for the upcoming South Pacific Games in November has been progressing and is positive.

Stakeholders including the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Aviation Security, Solomon Airlines, Immigration, Customs, Bio Security and Airport management have held a number of engagement meetings to discuss issues relating to the security of the airport for the expected influx of visitors to Honiara during the sporting event.

Police in Auki have arrested a 42-year-old male person for attempted murder at Auki wharf this morning (17 March 2023).

The incident occurred this morning on board MV Express Pelican II while berthing at Auki wharf preparing for its departure to Honiara.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said the 42-year-old suspect is an engineer on board the ship.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station have arrested a 43-years-old male person for a series of crimes in Renbel Province on 13 March 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Renbel Province, Inspector Eddie Peseika says, “The alleged suspect commits a series of crimes committed over the past three months.”

PPC Peseika says, “The first incident occurred in December 2022 in which the suspect struck his father on the neck with a kitchen knife and luckily his father defended himself and managed to escape the strike.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), last week, thanked three members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) who have been supporting the RSIPF over the last four years.

Advisor John Lal, Melanie Stevens and Charmaine Li are completing their deployments in the Solomon Islands in the coming weeks. All three members initially deployed in 2019 as part of the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP). When SIPDP ended, they continued to support RSIPF under the new RISPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara today (16 March 2023) farewelled their colleague officer the late Police Constable (PC) Fredrick Sale during a funeral service at the South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) in Honiara after he passed away on 12 March 2023.

Speaking at the funeral service, Supervising RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Ian Vaevaso says, “I am humbled to stand here on behalf of all ranks and files of the RSIPF throughout Solomon Islands to pay respect to late Sale.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Maritime Division and RSIPF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit celebrate the hard work of the women within their ranks at a Morning Tea at Maritime Division Headquarters.

The RSIPF Maritime Division has a number of women in key roles ranging from Patrol Vessel Sailors to Staff Sergeants and Leadership Officers, these women constitute almost ten percent of the RSIPF Maritime workforce.

Over 800 people including women and children have attended and listened to a police awareness talk conducted at Manita village in Central Makira this week (12 March 2023).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The awareness talk covered health issues related to consumption of kwaso (homebrew) and smoking of marijuana.”

PPC Sitai says, “The awareness talk also makes it clear to the people of Manita on criminal charges related to planting of marijuana, brewing of kwaso, selling and consumption of the kwaso product.”
