New fire advisor for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Fire and Rescue Department, Inspector Matt Goldman, is happy with their Department’s readiness for the Pacific Games.

Goldman, a member of the Fire and Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW), is here under a secondment arrangement between the FRNSW and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

Under this arrangement, the AFP source technical support, training and equipment from the FRNSW and deliver them to the RSIPF through the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

The National Referral Hospital (NRH) came alive on 15 November, 2023 when members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Solomons International Assistance Force (SIAF) visited with entertainments, gifts and a live musical performance.

SIAF’s Australian Defence Force (ADF) brass band joined the RSIPF band to put on a spectacular performance at the NRH which helped lift the spirits and cheer-up a crowd of NRH staff, patients and visitors.

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) are here to support the National Traffic Department (NTD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) for the Sol2023 XVII Pacific Games in Honiara.

Director NTD, Superintendent William Foufaka said the eleven traffic officers from RPNGC deployed contingent to Solomon Islands will be attached with NTD and support the RSIPF to deal with traffic management during the games.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Traffic Department (NTD) have received several safety equipment from New Zealand through the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPSP) during a gifting ceremony yesterday (13 November 2023) at the National Traffic Department (NTD).

The equipment includes high visibility reflectorized glow jackets, torches and traffic wands.

Police in Kirakira are investigating the death of a 60-old male person after he was found dead in a bush a few meters away from his village.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The 60 year old deceased from Ere’ere village in Ugi Island went missing on 8 November 2023 and his body was found the day after.

PPC Sitai says, “It was alleged that the deceased was found with bruises on his body with an imprint on the ground surface of when his body was dragged to where he was found.”

The Australian Federal Police (AFP), last week handed over a range of equipment to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force’s (RSIPF) National Response Department (NRD) and Fire and Rescue Department.

The equipment presented to the NRD included uniform items and boots, optical sights and other operational equipment to support the NRD’s limited re-armament program.

The AFP, through the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) and the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF), has been key supporters of this program.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) paid a visit to Lunga Agape community where they conducted an awareness talk on 5 November 2023.

NCPD Director Superintendent John Matamaru said that his team has already visited a few communities including a few locations in Honiara City to address the public and inform them of some of the objectives of NCPD.

Two suspects have been arrested in relation to the death of a popular Facebook personality the late David Aka Arekanuts recently.

The National Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has confirmed the arrest and currently an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

NCID Director, Superintendent Leslie Simao said it was alleged that the two adult male persons assaulted the 43 years-old person after he threw rocks at market vendors at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) area.

Additional members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have landed in Honiara yesterday (8 November) ahead of the 17th Pacific Games event which will get underway in Honiara in just over a week time.

The AFP members were greeted by the Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Rod Hilton, the AFP Solomon Islands Commander, Heath Davies, and Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Mostyn Mangau, at the Henderson International Airport tarmac upon arrival.

As part of the Safe and Secure part of the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23), the officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have raided about three thousand litres of home brewed (kwaso) and destroyed them in a latest raid at Alligator Creek area this week.

Police Operation Commander (POC) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Mr Stanley Riolo said this raid is part of the clean-up campaign prior to the PG23 next week.

POC Commander Riolo said almost all communities in the Alligator area distilled kwaso in their own kitchen on a daily basis and sold them.
