The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Partnership Program, RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), visited the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) and spoke to the Komunity Ambassadors about the growing use of Copen amongst the youth within Honiara.

The presentation was aimed at educating the athletes and coaches of SINIS on the dangers of Copen, the current understanding of the risks associated with using the substance and the impact it is having on school communities.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata Police Station conducted awareness talks at Nelau and Taipe village in Temotu Province on 12 February 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Temotu Province, Superintendent James Toaki says, “The awareness talk was based on the five drivers of crime and how it can affect the lives of individuals and the community as a whole.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) Security Planning Committee have conducted a pre-phase security planning workshop for the Departmental Directors and Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) in preparation for the upcoming PG23 event at Rove Police Headquarters on 15 February 2023.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Pacific Game 2023 Security Planning Team have completed a PG 2023 Security Planning Workshop conducted by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara last week.

The Workshop was also attended by other security partners of the RSIPF.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wish to acknowledge and thank the people of Malaita Province for respecting the legal process and supporting police during the election of Malaita Provincial Premier that happened peacefully as they welcomed their new premier on 10 February 2023.

Deputy Commissioner Operations Juanita Matanga says, “I wish to thank the good people of Malaita for the good behaviour demonstrated and the support provided in creating a safe environment for communities during the Election Day.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting bomb/ UXO operations in the Western Province from 14 February
to 19 February 2023.

Officer In-charge, (OIC) of the RSIPF EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The tasks will be carried out in the areas of Munda, Sasavele, Noro and surrounding communities on New Georgia Island, Vonavona, New Mala and surrounding communities on Kohinggo Island, Ringgi, Teme, Jack Harbour and surrounding communities on Kolombangara Island.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends the people of Malaita for Supporting the police maintain the peace, law and order within Auki town during the Motion of No Confidence (MONC) against the Honorable Premier of Malaita Provincial Government, yesterday (7 February 2023).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Leslie Kili says,” I would like to commend the young and elderly people who took responsibility to support and assist police in making sure Auki Business centre are protected from the protesters.”

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) officers from National Traffic Department (NTD), City Response Unit (CRU) of Honiara Police Station and Provincial Response Unit (PRU) of Guadalcanal Police Station have completed a police techniques and tactics training program conducted by instructors from the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT).

The training was completed along with handing over of certificates at Rove training centre last week.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) have completed a four days advanced crime investigation seminar conducted by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara last week.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and intelligence Patricia Leta says, “I want to acknowledged the CPLT for the continues support to RSIPF. This training has to be taken seriously and officers must work hard to update their professional knowledge in criminal investigation and forensic science and technology.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 8 February 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 1pm on 8 February 2023.”
