Police Response Team (PRT) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have completed a two weeks intensive training provided by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) on 14 June 2023 at Rove police headquarters.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr. Ian Vaevaso and Team Leader CPLT Commissioner Zhao Jinyong were present to officially close the training program.

DC Vaevaso said the closing program started with some speech presentation and drill by PRT officers.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira are investigating a fallen log that allegedly killed a 30-year-old male person at Maepua log pond on 9 June 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “The male person in his 30s from Bina village, west Kwaio in Malaita province was hit by a fallen round log.”

PPC Sitai says, “The incident occurred while the deceased was in the process of unhooking a brace chain used to hold and brace logs from falling off from the truck during hauling.”

A father of four children died after a crocodile attacked during a diving trip at Nikunitava in Central Province on 6 June 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai said, “The deceased accompanied five other boys on a diving trip to a place called Nikunitava.”

PPC Soakai said, “When they arrived at the diving place they dive into two groups till one of the boys sighted a big black object swimming past them. He advises them to jump back on to their canoes for their safety while the deceased are still under water.”

About 25 officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are undergoing a Victim Based Crime Training at the Rove Police Headquarters.

Officers from the RSIPF’s Sexual Assault Squad, Homicide & Serious Crime Unit, Professional Standards & Internal Investigations, Naha Police Station, White River and Learning and Development are attending this two-week training.

The RSIPF and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) supports this training.

The National Emergency Management and Special Event Planning Department (NEMSEP) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) completed a workshop on route security in major events recently.

The workshop was organized on 1 June 2023 by experts from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) at the police headquarters in Honiara.

Director NEMSEP Inspector Jamie Hagaria says, “The security planning training of route security in major events provided by CPLT is very important. It will greatly support us in developing security plans for the upcoming King's Birthday.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 7 June 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active from 8am to 1pm.”

“Farmers, fishermen, hunters and the general public in and around Henderson area, Alligator Creek and Tenaru School are kindly warned to keep out from Hells Point while the Operation is in progress.

Nine Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have graduated with level three plus on International Mine Action Standard (IMAS) on 2 June 2023.

The training was coordinated and facilitated by Australian Defense Force (ADF) with the support from the Australian High Commission in Solomon Islands to boost the EOD capabilities on dealing with unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the country.

The Maritime Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is now rearmed with Glock pistols as part of the rearmament program.

This is part of the stage limited rearmament of the RSIPF. Police Response Team (PRT) and Close Personal Protection (CPP) are already armed and now the Maritime is the third group within the RSIPF to be rearmed.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Ian Vaevaso has acknowledged China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) for building RSIPF capacity and capability.

DC Vaevaso said that he is aware that partner CPLT and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Public Security are taking greater importance in building the capacity and capability of RSIPF to be an effective and capable police force that would serve the needs of its people.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr Ian Vaevaso encouraged the Police Response Team (PRT) to learn from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) experts.

DC Vaevaso made this encouragement during an official opening program at Rove police headquarters on 26 May 2023.

“I am convinced that you are ready and committed to learn in the coming weeks. I encourage you to make use of this opportunity to learn from these experts and learn as much as possible,” Mr Vaevso said.
