Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Tulagi Police Station in Central Province appeal to communities in Central Province to come forward with information regarding illegal fishing method (dynamite), which occurred over the weekend.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai says, “Initial report stated that an outboard motor (OBM) was going around big and small Ngella reefs using dynamites as fishing method.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team will conduct a live demolition of bombs at Hells Point, in the Alligator Creek area East of Honiara on Wednesday 18 January 2023.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of EOD, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The Hells Point Demolition Range in Central Guadalcanal will be active as from 8am to 2pm (18 January 2023).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo Police Station in Western Province have charged a 26-years-old male who hails from South Malaita for allegation of false pretence last week.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “It was alleged that the suspect took more than $10,000 cash separately from eight people in different occasions within a period of two weeks in Gizo Town.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested three suspects who were in possession of a firearm (homemade pistol) in East Honiara on 10 January 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Superintendent Chris Laekalia says, “Three suspects have been arrested in relation to the firearm retrieved by police from the PNG National who was arrested this morning.”

“According to the report, the firearms were made by the PNG National using a staple gun,” PPC Laekalia adds.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a Papua New Guinea (PNG) National who allegedly involved in an armed robbery at KG VI USP complex in East Honiara on 23 December 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of Honiara City, Superintendent Chris Laekalia says, “It is alleged that the foreigner along with a male Solomon Islander entered the engineering department office took valuable items worth $11,000 SBD and escaped.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and members of Solomon’s International Assistance Force (SIAF) have arrested 34 suspects during the operation “STOPEM GAMBLING” last week.

Suspects who have been arrested for gambling known as pass were arrested from Rove Market, White river and Lord Howe Settlement. Among the 34 suspects, 10 were females.

Police investigators at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province are investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old male person found lying along Sasafa riverbank in North Malaita on 7 January 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “An initial report states that the deceased was found by villagers residing near the river bank after he went missing from his home village on 1 January 2023.”

“Two suspects are currently under police custody for questioning as investigation continues,” PPC Kili adds.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Tulagi in Central Island Province have arrested and charged a 38-year-old mother on 29 December 2022 following the discovery of a dead body of an infant found washed ashore at Boromole village on 21 December 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai says, “Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Tulagi Police Station have identified the suspect. The suspect in this sad incident is from Foia Village in Malaita Province.”

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau commended the public for a peaceful celebration throughout the festive season despite one murder case in borderline East of Honiara.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at Tulagi in Central Island Province are investigating an infanticide incident in relation to the body of a female infant found washed ashore at Boromole Village seaside on 21 December 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province Superintendent David Soakai says, “The body of the female infant was discovered following a strong odour that concerned those living near the seaside. They went out in search of where the smell came from and discovered a human body of an infant.”
