MoU sign between RSIPF, Leadership Code Commission and the Public Service Commission

Royal Solomon Island Police Force sign Memorandum of Understandings (MoU’s) with the Leadership Code Commission (LCC) and Public Service Commission (PSC) on the 27th October 2016 at Rove Police Headquarters, Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The Commissioner of Police before the signing of the MoU’s formally welcome the Chairman of the Leadership Code Commission and Chairman of Public Service Commission.

The Commissioner of Police Mr. Frank Prendergast said, “I’m please to here today with the two Chairman to sign a MoU which will assist the RSIPF, the Public Service Commission, and the Leadership Code Commission, to share information that will enable us to work cooperatively together to ensure that corrupt and inappropriate behaviour within the Public Services are dealt with appropriately. The Police Force had a great support from the Public Service Commission and Leadership Code Commission in the past but this MoU is about lifting the our cooperative effort to another level”.

The Chairman of the Public Service Commission Mr. Eliam Tangirongo applauded the signing of the MoU saying it was a positive development that will assist the Commissions and the Police to work more effectively together.

He said, “One of the things that I see coming from the MoU is that it will facilitate the exchange of information and we hope that it will result in more positive outcomes for us.”

Mr. Tangirongo stated, “I am proud that this MoU’s signing today and I look forward to the work that will result to help fight corruption, abuse of offices and indiscipline in the public sector”.

According to Chairman of Leadership Code Commission of Solomon Islands Mr. Solomon Kalu said, “This MoU will help us to set the bench mark on how should we should perform in the years to come”.

He further stated, “That the MoU is supplements where we fall sort in my view in terms of resources. He noted that all agencies had limited resources and the MOU’s will assist in ensuring those resources are used more effectively. For example it will enable joint investigations. He also noted that often there were overlapping jurisdictions and this MOU would enable the most effective response in those circumstances.”
