RSIPF investigates serious logging accident in Choiseul Province

Police in the Choiseul Province are investigating a serious logging accident at the Suri logging camp in East Choiseul last Friday 25 August 2017 during which a log fell and broke the chainsaw operator’s right leg.

Police in Taro became aware of the accident when the male person was brought to the Taro hospital during the weekend. He has since been transferred to the National Referral Hospital in Honiara given the seriousness of his injury.

The Provincial Police Commander, Acting, for Choiseul Province, Rolland Lapo says, “no formal report has been received from the Sunwood Company Limited which is operating in the area but I will send my officers to the logging camp in order to get the full report on the accident.”
