Premier of Western Province (WP), Billy Veo has urged officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province to absorb skills provided by China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) during their training.

Honourable Premier Veo urged them during his official keynote address at the opening ceremony on 20 February 2024 in Gizo.

“To our hard working police officers, please I ask you to absorb the knowledge, experience and skills that will be imparted to you so that you will be able to effectively undertake your mandated duties,” said the Premier Veo.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tetere police station have warned two young lad for sniffing petrol.

The incident happened when the officers attended a report at one of the villages in Central Guadalcanal this week.

Sergeant (Sgt) John Manegaua said upon our arrival at the location we saw a 1.5 litre petrol at a workshop and asked if the petrol was for the generator.

"These two young boys used to sniff that 1.5 litre patrol", a reply from a woman when we arrived said officer Manegaua.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Commissioners met recently to set the agenda of the RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) for the year ahead.

The RAPPP, which is now in its third year, has helped boost the RSIPF’s capabilities to keep communities safe. Through RAPPP, AFP members work closely with RSIPF officers to support the delivery of policing services to the people of Solomon Islands.

The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has killed a 2.5 metre crocodile at Foxwood area last week.

Supervising Director PRD Inspector David Quiro said officers responded to a formal request made by a concerned community member who feared for the safety of people who lived around a creek at Foxwood.
Inspector Quiro said, “The crocodile was captured using a bait on a hook before it was killed (shot).”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect for alleged murder of a 30-year male person on 7 February 2024 in West Kwaio.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Leslie Kili said, “The deceased and the suspect were drinking beer together after selling their timber in Auki and returned home on 6 February 2024.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) soon will roll out their community engagements plan all over the country as National General Election 2024 (NGE24) comes closer.

This was a result of the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and Directors of the RSIPF spent a weeklong conference here in Honiara deliberated and developed operational work plans and priorities for the NGE24.

Provincial Training Officers (PTOs) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) attended a one week training in Honiara starting today (12 February 2024).

The RSIPF Learning and Development team (L&D) and the New Zealand (NZ) Solomon Islands Police Support Program (SIPSP) commenced the second Provincial Trainers week-long training workshop at the Training Academy at Rove police headquarters.

The Course brings together the RSIPF PTOs and exposes them to advanced training that they can take back to their province and deliver to their RSIPF colleagues and peers.

Villagers at Komaleai, in the Shortland Islands have found a dead body of a male person when they travel to Buin for market on 3 February 2024.

It was confirmed that the dead body is a Solomon Islander from Malaita who was married to a woman from Lagovis village in south Bougainville.

It was alleged that the deceased (Mark Iro) died during a fishing trip from Bougainville on Friday 2 February 2024.

Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and Directors of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have commenced a one week conference in Honiara in preparation for synchronised National General Election 2024 (NGE24).

The PPCs and Director started on 5 February and finished on 9 February 2024 with the theme ‘Empower, Prevail and Protect’ which were officiated by the Commissioner of RSIPF.

Eight officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (EODD) within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have successfully completed their week-long training on 31 January 2024 at Hells Point.

The training was delivered by four instructors from the Japan Ministry of Defence, which was made possible through the bilateral collaboration project.

The training was purposely conducted to educate officers on the Japanese ordnances from World War II found in Solomon Islands.
